Ms. Peters holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development with a concentration in Child Development from Virginia Tech and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership degree from Longwood University. Currently, she serves as a member of the Longwood University Educational Leadership Alumni Advisory Board, the Virginia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (VASCD), and the Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals (VAESP).
In addition to several years spent in preschool education, Ms. Peters co-owned a successful business, managing personnel and project management. After making the change to public education in 2015, she served as a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Varina High School in Henrico County, where she taught Child Development and Teachers for Tomorrow. As teacher-leader of the “Teachers for Tomorrow'' program, she spent numerous hours supervising future teachers in partnership with elementary & secondary school administrators, getting the students college and career ready.
Her leadership skills were developed and nurtured through the roles of Administrative Aide and the leader of the New Teacher Mentoring program at Varina. She has served as a curriculum writer for Henrico Career and Technical Education at Central Office, as the summer school principal, and most recently as Dean of Students at Essex High School. At Essex High, she handled school wide discipline, re-established the PBIS team while working collaboratively to implement updated school-wide behavioral expectations, and implemented a peer observation program.
Ms. Peters moved from EHS to TES to begin her role as Principal in November of 2022. The experience Ms. Peters had as both a business leader and educator prepared her for her role as an educational leader in ECPS. It is her passion to see students succeed and achieve academic success while supporting teachers both instructionally and through positive climate and culture.
Ms. Peters also enjoys traveling, reading, and being near any type of water (beach or river!). Her greatest joy is spending time with family, including her teenage daughter, two young adult sons, and her dog, Tucker.
